MadhyaPradesh is buying 400 MW from NTPC

The Madhya Pradesh government had signed a long term Power Purchase Agreement  with  (NTPC), under which the state will get an additional 400 MW of power from 2011.

Madhya Pradesh Power Trading Corporation Limited and NTPC signed the agreement last Monday in New Delhi.

As per the PPA, Madhya Pradesh would start receiving 400 MW from the 1,000-MW capacity Mauda Super Thermal Power Station near Nagpur in Maharashtra from 2011.

Mauda Super Thermal Power Station is a project of Maharashtra government and NTPC and all the contracts for it have been implemented.

The shortfall has led to long power cuts extending from seven to 13 hours a day in both rural and urban areas. The power cut has also hit industrial production.
