Pakistat mulls trade fair in India

The issue of granting MFN status by Pakistan to India will be discussed during the single country trade fair likely to be held by Pakistan in New Delhi in October according to senior Pakistan trade officials here. The contentious issue of the grant of the most favoured nation status to India by Pakistan will  be under the scanner in October during a trade fair being planne by Islamabad in New Delhi.

The officials who were speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the Pakistan trade fair here last week said the issue required greater discussion and understanding of each others problems.

Besides linking the mfn issue to the contentious Jammu and Kashmir problems Pakistan is also apprehensive that the trade status would mostly benefit India because of  the size of its industry and trade, the officials said, adding that India had put up non-trade barriers. We are trying to hold the Pakistan single country trade fair in New Delhi the officials said.
